Sotech Asia was appointed as the structural contractor for Building H in the second phase of Gardens of Eden, a major luxury condominium development in Layan, Phuket.
The seven-storey building rises approximately 23 metres and has a total construction area of approximately 10,000 square metres. The structure is supported by pile foundations and incorporates reinforced-concrete flat slabs with a bonded post-tension system to provide efficient construction and enhanced structural performance.
Completed Structural Scope
Sotech Asia successfully completed the main structural works for Building H, including:
- Pile-foundation-related structural works
- Reinforced-concrete foundations
- Structural columns and walls
- Concrete flat slabs
- Bonded post-tension systems
- Staircases and associated concrete elements
- Roof structure
The completed reinforced-concrete frame provides the structural foundation for the building’s architectural, building-services and finishing works.
Bonded Post-Tension Construction
A key technical feature of Building H is its bonded post-tension slab system.
This construction method uses high-strength steel tendons installed within the concrete slabs. After the concrete reaches the required strength, the tendons are stressed and bonded to improve the slabs’ structural performance.
Subject to the approved engineering design, bonded post-tension construction can provide several advantages:
- Efficient flat-slab construction
- Improved control of cracking and deflection

- Longer spans and greater flexibility in column layouts
